2011 :: Our Projects

On January 1st 1804, after more than 300 years of colonial rule, slavery and genocide of the Native and African peoples, the slave population of St. Domingue brought an end to the trans-atlantic slave system on their island and created a free nation.

After launching and succeeding in a revolution that shook the entire western world's economic and political system, this challenge to established religious and scientifically based "truths" and justifications that served the interests of the colonizing powers continues into our present day affecting each of our societies with inherited complexes from this historical trauma.

The N a Sonje Foundation is founded on the belief that it is vital that this trauma be treated carefully for the future health and well-being of humanity, rather than with superficial cosmetic reparations.
In order for a deep and profound healing to occur, a potentially painful healing process needs to take place.
Ignored and suppressed truths have to be for once and for all recalled to the collective memory and brought into a place for an individual, living experience.

It is with this intention; to contribute to a place of healing for our world, the "N a Sonje" Foundation offers experiences and initiatives for the people of Haiti as well as any and all peoples of the world to come and participate in this healing process.

The vision is 3 fold:

1- Hosting visiting groups for language, culture and historical experiences.

2- Supporting local development for reconstruction, micro-credit and school scholarships

3- Promoting the production of compost out of kitchen waste and the production of alternative charcoal made out of paper waste.
